Abstract

Introduction: Tuberculosis is a chronic granulomatous infectious disease caused by Koch's bacillus or Mycobacterium tuberculosis. The problem that is evaluated in this study is that socioeconomic factors influence the abandonment of treatment in patients, as well as patients abandoning treatment due to the side effects that it causes, and the patient does not have an adequate follow-up on the part of the patient. of health personnel. Objective: To determine the risk factors that affect the abandonment of anti-tuberculosis treatment in patients who attend the Health Subcenters in the city of Milagro. Materials and methods: Survey carried out on patients who abandoned anti-tuberculosis treatment. The methods used were the analytical - synthetic and the empirical methods. Under this perspective, a quantitative, descriptive and cross-sectional research paradigm was used. The study population was made up of patients who abandoned tuberculosis treatment in the Subcenters of the City of Milagro, with a total population studied of 60 people. Results: In the analysis, the socioeconomic factors related to the abandonment of the treatment of the tuberculosis patients were evidenced, the risk factors that influence the abandonment of the treatment were identified and the strategies that the nursing professional should apply to prevent abandonment of treatment. Conclusion: The abandonment of tuberculosis treatment is associated with the care that patients receive in the Subcenters, as well as the fact that patients consider the treatment to be of long duration.
