The development of a population is linked to its tradition, culture and history, hence the knowledge of previous generations is vital for its harmonious progress. This is why the purpose of this study was to generate a theoretical construct about community development: a vision of productivity of the rural population from the ancestral approach. For this purpose, a methodology was used under the post-positivist and interpretative paradigm, under a qualitative approach and hermeneutic method. The data collection technique used was the in-depth interview and participant observation, and the instrument used was the generative questions and the notebook. Five (5) key informants supported the study, and the techniques used for information processing were categorization, structuring, contrasting, triangulation, interpretation and theorization. The setting was the community of La Idea, El Hato Parish, Falcón Municipality, Falcón State. Among the findings is that ancestral knowledge is transmitted especially orally, starting with a pleasant family or neighborly conversation on different topics. For the reflection we based ourselves on ancestral knowledge. The conclusion is that local development is a productive community, where environmental, social and identity elements are combined to benefit the environment and the community, considering the elements that characterize them.
