The geometric forms relations present in the "Tapüy" the Pemón Taurepán people traditional constructions as cultural value

Abstract

The our continent people, since time immemorial, have always had the initiative to investigate and produce solutions to their various
problems, the most important one is to have comfortable spaces to live, in the case of the Pemón people that place is called Tapüy (house).
This work’s purpose was to analyze the geometric shapes relationships present in the Tapüy of the Pemón Taurepan people in the Sanpai
indigenous community of the Gran Sabana municipality, in the state of Bolívar (Venezuela). A descriptive, non-experimental field study
had carried out. A non-probabilistic and intentional sample, consisting of ten people, has was taken, which corresponds to a member of
each family resident of the ancestral Pemón housing called Tapüy. These houses are relate to the rectangle and the triangle, a geometric
figure that since, ancient times has been studied by several mathematicians and astronomers establishing laws and theorems, that allow
us to understand their properties. It could conclude that the native settlers deftly handle geometric shapes, with different connotations to
the rest of the population, because they are base on their ancestral beliefs and in their relationship with nature, and they have used them
in the constructions of their Tapüy.
