Abstract

This article is born from the investigation of the project, socio-educational accompaniment to habitual caregivers to prevent child violence in the first and second childhood. The objective is to analyze the socioeconomic factor and the protective parental skills of 123 regular caregivers of children in the city of Guayaquil-Ecuador. The research methodology is descriptive and multiple analysis of variance (ANOVA). The positive parenting questionnaire V1 (Gómez and Muñoz 2014) was administered. that allows to identify the protective competences related to 4 dimensions: 1) guarantees of physical, emotional and psychosexual security; 2) care and satisfaction of basic needs; 3) organization of daily life; 4) search for social support; In addition, the stratified socioeconomic survey (INEC-Ecuador) was applied. The results of the analysis of independent samples indicate that there is no significant difference in the score obtained in parental skills between the different socioeconomic levels (F. (3, 119) =0.484, p=0.694). It is concluded that protective parental practices do not depend on the economic level of the family, but on cultural and socio-educational factors.
