Impact of chess as a pedagogical strategy for the development of learning in students of the second level of initial education

This article is the result of an investigative process by the author in order to provide a contribution to the Ecuadorian educational system, through the analysis of teaching practice in relation to the impact of chess as a pedagogical strategy for the development of learning in second-year students. initial education level of the “Bolivariana” Educational Unit. For this, the theoretical postulates on learning by Piaget, Bandura, Pavlov, Bruner and Vygotsky were considered as a foundation, as well as those that refer to the management of chess as a basis for the development of Martínez Estrada's competences. From the methodological order, the study was developed with the type of descriptive research, with an exploratory level field design; in which non-participant observation was applied as a technique and for data recording an observation script aimed at teachers of the second level of initial education of the "Bolivarian" Educational Unit. The results obtained showed that teachers use chess as a pedagogical strategy, however, dimensional aspects related to techniques, resources and didactic activities that are oriented towards student learning must be considered.
