Government, democracy and university citizenship in Argentina - study on Public Universities

Abstract

This essay is part of the concern to address a reflection on the Argentine public University, its institutional design and democratic organization and from there focus on the analysis of the concept of citizenship from the political perspective, in order to delve into the central aspects of participation. citizenship and representation of the university demo in university co-government spaces. It is at this point that we will stop to analyze how and in what way the university organization and its democracy recognize the citizen rights of collective and individual university actors in the game of belonging. The methodology used to construct this reflective essay responds to a descriptive bibliographic review. Where different documents that support the constitution and operation of public universities in Argentina were reviewed. In conclusion, it can be stated that university democracy in particular needs historical subjects who imagine and desire democracy, who organize and fight for it, who constitute it in the existing academic, scientific, cultural and political conditions. Without a doubt, the most important reformist legacy is how we have defined it, the incorporation of politics in a democratic key as a means for the democratization of our Houses of Higher Studies.
