Abstract

The multilingual and multicultural reality of Peru leads to the need to carry out an analysis about the danger of extinction that threatens the native languages of the Amazon region and the Andean zone of the country. The original languages are all those languages that were used prior to the diffusion of the Spanish language and that are preserved and used within the national territory. This research aims to analyze the original languages in danger of extinction in the Amazon and the Andean zone. To fulfill the purpose outlined, the positivist paradigm was used, with a quantitative approach and descriptive documentary design. Recording was used as the data collection technique and the content or mixed record was used as the instrument. Content analysis was used as a technique for analyzing the results. Among the conclusions, the cultural and social role of native languages is denoted. Therefore, its preservation is a vital task that the Peruvian state must develop through the institutions that have competence in the matter, such as the Ministry of Education.
